**Don't forget to consider making Arizona Tax Credit contributions for tax year 2017.  See our AZ Tax Credits Tab for more information.

**Arizona Forms 1099-G, reporting your Arizona tax refunds from the prior year, are available online.  Rather than mailing these, as they have done in the past, Arizona Department of Revenue now makes these forms available to view and print at www.aztaxes.govThey will mail these forms by request only, by calling (800) 352-4090.  If we prepared your prior year return, and if you received the refund that was anticipated on your return, we can prepare your return without the Form 1099-G.

**April 17 Filing Deadline

The filing deadline to submit 2017 tax returns is Tuesday, April 17, 2018, rather than the traditional April 15 date. In 2018, April 15 falls on a Sunday, and this would usually move the filing deadline to the following Monday — April 16th. However, Emancipation Day — a legal holiday in the District of Columbia — will be observed on that Monday, which pushes the nation’s filing deadline to Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Under the tax law, legal holidays in the District of Columbia affect the filing deadline across the nation.

**Be sure to see the Tax Documents tab for your 2017 Engagement Letter to streamline processing of your return.  You can also find organizers and additional information to make submitting your tax information less stressful.

**The Bipartisan Budget Act (BBA) of 2018 extended a few items that were previously expired as of 12/31/16.  Some of the items retroactively extended for tax year 2017 include:

  1. Exclusion for discharge of qualified principle residence indebtedness income.
  2. Mortgage Insurance Premiums (MIP or PMI) deduction
  3. Qualified Tuition and related expenses deduction
  4. Qualified nonbusiness energy property credit

If your 2017 tax return was previously filed, and you believe one or more of these items pertained to you, please consider amending your returns.  Our dedicated CPAs will help you consider your options, prepare amended returns, and answer any questions.
